One girl. Two sports. And more success than most prep athletes will have in their entire careers.

That about sums it up for Miramonte High soccer/basketball standout Megan Reid, who excelled in both sports this winter, leading both of her teams to Diablo Foothill Athletic League titles. Reid, for her efforts, is the Prep2Prep North Coast Section Senior of the Year - for soccer.

Playing just 10 soccer games for Miramonte due to the hectic schedule, she still managed an eye-opening 16 goals. In basketball, she was a steady and effective role player Off the court, she managed a 4.0 grade point average.

Her success was not easily attained as Reid had to hustle from game to game and practice to practice at a brisk pace at times, often arriving at a contest late due to her dual commitment.

"The one thing I saw that's so remarkable is that she's able to give every bit of herself in every life situation she's confronted with," Miramonte assistant principal Michael McAllister said. "Academically and athletically she has the poise and presence to navigate effectively in high-stakes situations. That's why I think she'll be a great success in life at whatever she chooses to do."

Reid has committed to play soccer at the University of Virginia, McAllister said.
