Prep2Prep CCS Girls Soccer Rankings

THROUGH February 13, 2013

1 (last week: 1) ARCHBISHOP MITTY (17-0-4)
Last week: def. Presentation, 2-0; next: vs. Valley Christian in WCAL final (2/14)

The Monarchs continued their remarkable defensive run with a 2-0 win over Presentation in the WCAL semis. Mitty next faces Valley Christian in the final with a chance to claim the WCAL title outright.

2 (2) ST. FRANCIS (16-3-1)
Last week: def. Sacred Heart Cathedral, 4-0, lost to Valley Christian, 1-0; next: CCS playoffs (TBD)

St. Francis suffered a mild upset, losing 1-0 to Valley Christian in the WCAL semis, but that result will have little bearing on the Lancers' prospects in CCS. St. Francis is expected to claim the No. 2 seed in Division II with a potential shot at a rematch with No. 1 Mitty in the finals.

3 (3) LOS GATOS (14-3-2)
Last week: lost to Saratoga, 1-0, def. Los Altos, 4-1; next: CCS playoffs (TBD)

The Wildcats made it a bit difficult on themselves by losing to Saratoga, but an emphatic victory over Los Altos in the regular-season finale was enough to capture the SCVAL De Anza Division crown. Los Gatos will most certainly receive a first-round bye in the Division I playoffs and should be considered the favorite to capture a CCS title.

4 (4) VALLEY CHRISTIAN (15-4-2)
Last week: def. Notre Dame-Belmont, 4-0, def. St. Francis, 1-0; next: vs. Archbishop Mitty in WCAL final (2/14)

The Warriors have had an impressive run through the WCAL playoffs, not conceding a single goal in wins over Notre Dame-Belmont and St. Francis. A win over Mitty in the WCAL title game might be enough to get Valley Christian a first-round bye in Division II.

5 (6) WOODSIDE (17-0-2)
Last week: def. San Mateo, 4-0, def. Carlmont, 2-1; next: at Menlo-Atherton (2/14)

Woodside has one final hurdle at Menlo-Atherton to complete an undefeated regular season. Remarkably, the Wildcats have outscored opponents 59-5 this season and figure to be no worse than a No. 2 seed in Division I.
