FINAL REGULAR SEASON RANKINGS

1 (last week: 1) BELLARMINE COLLEGE PREP (0-0-0)
Last week: def. Sacred Heart Cathedral, 42-13; next: vs. Terra Nova (11/16)

The regular season finale was nothing more than a tuneup for the Bells, who shouldn't have much trouble with Terra Nova in the first round of the CCS Open Division playoffs.

2 (3) OAK GROVE (0-0-0)
Last week: def. Leland, 49-35; next: vs. Archbishop Mitty (11/16)

With their season on the line, the Eagles turned to senior leaders Nick Bernardo and Chidobe Awuzie, and the pair carried Oak Grove to the BVAL-Mount Hamilton Division title. Bernardo led the way with a whopping 305 yards rushing and 3 TDs in the win over Leland while Awuzie pitched in with 205 yards rushing and two long fourth-quarter scoring runs. Oak Grove's victory set up a fascinating first-round CCS matchup against Archbishop Mitty.

3 (2) SERRA (0-0-0)
Last week: lost to St. Francis 24-0; next: at Palo Alto (11/16)

It was a stunning loss for the Padres, but for the first time all season, they were faced in a situation where there was no incentive against St. Francis - Serra was already locked in to a No. 5 seed and a matchup with Palo Alto in the Open Division. Senior Eric Redwood is just a few yards from the all-time Serra rushing record set just a year ago by Erich Wilson.

4 (5) PALO ALTO (0-0-0)
Last week: def. Santa Clara, 56-21; next: vs. Serra (11/16)

Junior QB Keller Chryst had a big day against the Bruins, accounting for 5 TDs and passing for 295 yards. Two of Chryst's four touchdown passes went to Jayshawn Gates-Mouton, and Palo Alto is now set to take on run-based Serra in a contrast of styles.

5 (6) ST. IGNATIUS (0-0-0)
Last week: def. Archbishop Mitty, 21-6; next: at Palma (11/16)

The Wildcats bounced back from a poor performance at Serra to post a solid victory over Mitty in San Francisco. St. Ignatius takes the long trip to Palma Friday night in what is expected to be a tight contest.

6 (7) PALMA (0-0-0)
Last week: def. San Benito, 31-14; next: vs. St. Ignatius (11/16)

Palma completed an undefeated league season by gaining a measure of revenge against San Benito, which won the league title in 2011 on the final day of the season with an upset win over the Chieftains. Palma must figure out how to stop SI quarterback Jack Stinn in order to advance to the CCS Open semifinals.

7 (8) SEASIDE (0-0-0)
Last week: def. Monterey, 20-7; next: vs. Capuchino (11/16)

Seaside capped an undefeated regular season with an impressive win over Monterey to sweep the top two teams in the MBL-Gabilan Division.

8 (9) ST. FRANCIS (0-0-0)
Last week: def. Serra, 24-0; next: vs. Overfelt (11/16)

In perhaps the most stunning result of the WCAL season, St. Francis thoroughly dominated Serra in San Mateo. The Lancer defense allowed the fewest points in the WCAL, as safety Landon Baty snared three interceptions against the Padres.

9 (4) ARCHBISHOP MITTY (0-0-0)
Last week: lost to St. Ignatius, 21-6; next: at Oak Grove (11/16)

It's been a fairly disappointing season for the Monarchs, who had visions of a WCAL title at the beginning of the year, but Mitty has the tools to make a run, even in the loaded Open Division.

10 (10) VALLEY CHRISTIAN (0-0-0)
Last week: def. Archbishop Riordan, 45-0; next: vs. Burlingame (11/17)

Despite their 4-6 overall record, the Warriors should be considered the favorites in Division III after tuning up with a rout of Riordan. Valley Christian was close in all six of its losses, including three losses by a total of seven points against St. Francis, Serra and Bellarmine.
