CCS Junior of the Year
ANU TUIONO, RB/LB, OAK GROVE

The 2014 season was a bounce-back one for Oak Grove, which captured the BVAL-Mt. Hamilton title.

The Eagles were led by running back/linebacker Anu Tuiono, who led Oak Grove on both sides of the ball.

Tuiono averaged 7.6 yards per carry on offense and had 112 tackles on defense (12.4 per game). Fourteen of his tackles were for loss. He also had three quarterback sacks, one interception and caused four fumbles.

In a title-clinching 14-6 victory against Pioneer, Tuiono rushed for 160 yards and two touchdowns and had 10 tackles including four solo, three for loss and one sack.

Said Tuiono of his 14-yard TD run against the Mustangs that gave his team its final margin of victory: “I just said I’m going to follow my blocks, do what my coach says and we’re going to come out with the W."

He was named the BVAL-Mt. Hamilton most valuable player and, for his efforts, is also the Prep2Prep CCS Junior of the Year.

NOTE: We would like to thank our readers for all of the nominations you sent in for the season-ending CCS football awards. It is a daunting task to narrow down our selections to just the top few as we recognize there are lots of great players who make contributions on the football field that are not necessarily well-documented but mean a great deal to the success of their teams. We salute all of the players that have made this a wonderful season of CCS football.
