OAL Player of the Year LAVANCE WARREN, RB, MCCLYMONDS
Lavance Warren is McClymonds' renaissance man of a running back who likes to write and create music and rap when he isn't carrying the football.
When he is playing, he excels, running for more than 2,000 yards as a junior. Against Skyline, he rushed for 196 yards and five
touchdowns. In the Warriors' 44-16 Silver Bowl victory against Oakland, he ran for 142 yards and two scores on 15 carries. Against
Menlo in a tough 47-40 non-league loss, he rushed for 189 yards.
"It's not just me," Warren said. "I have a great line, and most of them are coming back."
Creating holes all season for Warren were Jordan Matthews, Kelvin Runners, Randall Coleman, Rahquile Menefee and Joseph Sanford.
There's nothing Warren relishes more than suiting up and playing.
"I like to win and compete," he said. "I like to go to war with my brothers."
Warren has been competing a long time. He grew up in New Orleans and began playing tackle rec ball at age 5 for a team called the
Harden Tigers. He hasn't stopped playing since.
The 5-foot-8, 175-pound back runs a 4.67 40 and has a 32.4-inch vertical leap.
Warren is also a good student, boasting a 3.3 grade point average.
