DVAL Player of the Year MILES HARRISON, RB, CLAYTON VALLEY CHARTER
Clayton Valley Charter's Miles Harrison is the home run-hitting playmaker every team would like to have.
Harrison proved it this season in a 59-13 victory against Las Lomas.
On Harrison's second carry of the game he bolted 56 yards for a touchdown.
"They were crashing the outside pretty hard so I knew I had to cut it up every time I saw the outside backer coming up," Harrison told
the Contra Costa Times. "I saw the cutback lanes. I saw it on film and I knew I'd have to do that. Their defense is pretty good, but
our offense just came out to play."
On Harrison's next touch he went 60 yards for a score as Clayton Valley took a 14-7 lead en route to an easy victory.
Harrison, for the game, carried 17 times for 297 yards and three touchdowns.
It was that kind of effort that accounted for Harrison's gaudy season totals -- 180 carries for 2.020 yards and 34. He averaged 11 yards per carry.
Said Clayton Valley Charter coach Tim Murphy to Prep2Prep: "Miles is an outstanding kid who could end up being the best back I've
ever coached. He improved his tackle-breaking and ball security this year. He did not have one turnover all season and broke at
least one tackle on almost every run."
Also considered: Eric Haynes, RB, Northgate; Mitch Daniels, QB, Concord.
