SCVAL-DA Player of the Year
DELSHAWN MITCHELL, RB/DB, WILCOX

Wilcox's Delshawn Mitchell utilized the death of his aunt Lacresia from cervical cancer as inspiration, and oh what heights Mitchell climbed.

The Chargers' running back rushed for 1,747 yards on 128 carries and scored 18 touchdowns to help Wilcox to an SCVAL-De Anza tri-title with Los Gatos and Milpitas.

Wilcox even gave Bellarmine a tough game in the Central Coast Section Open Division opener before losing a close one.

He also stood out on defense, managing 3.5 tackles per game, recording four tackles for loss, intercepting three passes, recovering three fumbles and causing one fumble.

"I feel great," Mitchell said. "We went far. We went to the Open Division for the first time in school history."

He mentioned his performances against Saratoga and Palo Alto as highlights.

Against Saratoga he rushed for 229 yards and two touchdowns and against Palo Alto he went for 262 yards and three scores in a pair of Wilcox victories.

Anoa'i played Pop Warner football for the West Bay Rams and then enrolled at Serra and did not regret it.

SCVAL-DA Senior of the Year
KELLER CHRYST, QB, PALO ALTO

The Stanford-bound Chryst completed 149-of-242 passes for 2,672 yards and 28 touchdowns, with just four interceptions in leading Palo Alto to the CCS Division II semifinals.

Also considered: Squally Canada, RB, Milpitas; Tre Hartley, WR/DB, Milpitas.



SCVAL-DA Junior of the Year
JOEY WOOD, RB, LOS GATOS

Wood rushed for 1,964 yards on 265 carries for 28 touchdowns. He also caught 11 passes for 183 yards and two scores in leading Los Gatos to a league tri-title and CCS Division II championship.



SCVAL-DA Sophomore of the Year
MANU TURITURI, DB, WILCOX

Turituri averaged 4.4 tackles per game and had one tackle for loss. He also had five interceptions in helping Wilcox to a league tri-title.
