PAL-Ocean Player of the Year MANASE PALU, RB/DB, BURLINGAME
Football runs in the family so it's no surprise that Manase Palu stars in the sport.
Palu led Burlingame to a 10-0 regular season record (11-1 overall) and the Central Coast Section Division III semifinals
where it lost to St. Ignatius 41-21.
Despite the setback, Palu relished that game.
"It was Senior Night and our last home game and it was the first time we made it past the first round since 2006," Palu said.
Palu's older brother, Ben, played for Burlingame and his younger brother, Laipeli, was a sophomore on this year's team. His first
cousin, Daniel Lavulo, was a star defensive lineman for Serra this season.
Manase Palu led the Panthers, rushing 107 times for 824 yards and 15 touchdowns. He also caught eight passes for 167 yards and two scores.
Palu also led Burlingame in scoring with 96 points, averaging 8.5 ppg. He also played in the defensive backfield.
He started playing at a young age, competing on the Bay City Bulldogs and West Bay Rams Pop Warner teams.
"I love the commitment and it's just something I've done my whole life," Palu said. "It's something I love and I've gotten to know a lot of people."
Palu (5-10, 185) plans to play at College of San Mateo next season.
