PAL-Bay Player of the Year ANTHONY GORDON, QB, TERRA NOVA
Anthony Gordon is the third member of his family to play quarterback at Terra Nova and weary opponents should be alerted there is no end in sight.
Gordon has two younger brothers, Nathan (eighth grade) and Dom (fourth grade) who will no doubt be wearing the black and gold eventually.
Gordon threw for 3,406 yards and 32 touchdowns this season, with only six interceptions.
"Football is fast-paced and I like that," Gordon said. "And I like throwing the ball."
He shares that trait with his father Ryan Gordon who starred at quarterback for Terra Nova and his uncle Greg Reynolds who was also a star
TN quarterback and now pitches in the Cincinnati Reds organization. Reynolds was drafted in 2006 out of Stanford, ahead of Tim Lincecum
and Clayton Kershaw.
It was from his father and uncle that Gordon learned poise.
"When I was younger I'd yell a lot and didn't know how to deal with my emotions," Gordon said. "Now I know how to hold things
together. It used to be that I'd throw a ball and think the receiver was supposed to catch it, but now I realize it's my fault
most of the time."
Gordon doesn't have any scholarship offers yet but was certainly one of the top quarterbacks in the Central Coast Section. At 6-foot-2, a
decent grade-point average and an impressive family history of success, one would think the offers will be coming.
"I'm only a junior and Terra Nova is sort of a smaller school, but I'm going to go to some camps this summer and get my name out there."
