BVAL-West Valley Player of the Year ANGEL GUILLEN, QB, PROSPECT
Angel Guillen moved around a little in his youth, living in San Francisco, San Bruno and Colorado. But the important thing for Prospect
High fans is he wound up in Saratoga, playing for the Panthers.
That worked out well for Prospect, as he completed 172-of-288 passes this season for 2,369 yards and 28 touchdowns, with nine interceptions.
He also carried the ball 35 times for 191 yards and two touchdowns in leading the Panthers to a third-place finish in the division.
"I like the physicality and competitiveness," Guillen said about football. "It helps me to get my anger out. I'm a competitive person, so it
also allows me to compete."
Athleticism runs in Guillen's family. His grandfather, Edward Estlow, played football at the University of Denver.
Guillen picked up the game at an early age, playing for the West Bay Rams who are based on the Peninsula.
Guillen has turned out to be a pretty good athlete himself, doing the high jump on the track team and, of course, excelling as the Panther QB.
He also has a 3.8 grade point average and enjoys photography.
"I like to watch games and I like to take photos so doing the two together works out well for me," Guillen said.
