BVAL-ST Player of the Year
TREVOR BEARDEN, RB, LIVE OAK

Live Oak's Trevor Bearden has the genes for athletic success.

Both his father and his uncle shined as running backs and baseball players at Los Gatos High.

Bearden (6-1, 220) did pretty well himself in the Acorn backfield. He set the Central Coast Section career rushing record for yards with 6,211, including 2,737 this season.

"It was a great season," Bearden said. "I didn't want to see it end, but it was great overall."

Bearden insisted during the tail end of the 2013 season the record was not paramount in his mind.

"It was great, but I was more worried about getting into the playoffs and not about the record," he said.

Asked what he likes about football, he said: "It's so competitive and I'm competitive, so that's what I enjoy."

Despite Bearden's amazing numbers, he doesn't have big colleges chasing him, but he hasn't given up hope something will emerge.

"I'm trying my best to work on it and talking to as many schools as I can," he said.
