BVAL-MH Player of the Year ANTHONY MCBRIDE, QB, PIEDMONT HILLS
Piedmont Hills quarterback Anthony McBride hasn't had the easiest life, but it's all turning out well for him so far.
As has been well-chronicled by Prep2Prep, McBride grew up in Oregon
but came to San Jose to live with an uncle because of parental issues.
He's on his own now but continues to thrive athletically, setting the school record for passing touchdowns in a season (38), surpassing
Daniel Cruz and Jason Harms, who both had 30.
McBride completed 168-of-308 passes and was intercepted 14 times. He also ran 50 times for 410 yards and seven touchdowns.
"It's a blessing," McBride said of his success. "Hard work and perseverance can get you through anything."
McBride thanked his receivers, Isaiah Arnold-Stewart, Howard Butler, Joseph Romero and Aaron Tillak and defensive lineman (and friend) Bobby
Rose for his success.
Also considered: Matt McLaughlin, QB, Leland; Hakeem Mays, RB, Willow Glen.
