Jason Townsend has resigned as the Fremont-Sunnyvale High boys basketball coach, Townsend said.
Townsend said he intends to “go help Craig Ellegood at Cupertino next year and an assistant where my son will be a freshman.”
At one point Townsend was both the athletic director and basketball coach at Fremont. Later, Steve Puccinelli became the AD.
Fremont went 11-15 overall in 2015-2016 and 4-8 in the Santa Clara Valley Athletic League-De Anza.
Fremont made the Central Coast Sections playoffs, defeating Monta Vista 57-41, but losing 71-50 to Wilcox.
The school is now seeking a new coach.
