SAN JOSE - Leland and Leigh played to a 1-1 tie in a non-league boys soccer match Monday afternoon.

Center back Jack Newton scored on a header goal off a cross early in the first half for the visiting Chargers (1-1-2), who settled for their second draw in a row.

Leland applied pressure throughout the game, but the Leigh back line held up well. The Longhorns (1-0-2) tied the match late in the first half.

Leigh is right back into action Tuesday afternoon (3:15 pm) when it hosts Oak Grove in a non-league match. Leland takes on Fremont Friday (3:15 pm) in the Homestead Christmas Cup.
