CCS Sophomore of the Year
NICOLE SWEENEY, BRANHAM

An early commit to Santa Clara University, Sweeney was outstanding during her sophomore season, earning MVP honors for the BVAL-Mt. Hamilton Division.

She scored 15 goals to go with five assists, despite being marked heavily during the year. That included a hat trick in a win over Westmont, to go with multi-goal performances against Piedmont Hills and Harbor.

A member of the Olympic Development Program state and regional teams, Sweeney contributed to both goals in a late-season tie with Santa Teresa. She was the primary threat for a program which returns two-thirds of its roster next season.

Other players considered for this award: Homestead’s Brenda Castillo, Mitty’s Katelyn Meyer, and Leigh’s Josie Kim.

NOTE: We would like to thank our media partners, coaches, parents, players and fans for contributing photos for our all-section features. We salute all of the players that have made this a wonderful season of CCS soccer.
