San Ramon Valley's Will Wiersdorf is the NCS Sophomore of the Year.

NCS Sophomore of the Year
WILL WIERSDORF, SAN RAMON VALLEY

Earning any level of recognition in the East Bay Athletic League, but San Ramon Valley’s Will Wiersdorf turned heads in his sophomore year, not only capturing first-team all-league honors but also notching key goals in big-time victories for the Wolves.

Likely the biggest win of the season for SRV was a 3-1 victory over EBAL champion and NCS Division 1 finalist De La Salle, a victory that was sparked by two goals from the sophomore striker who led the Wolves in scoring. For the season, Wiersdorf totaled 12 goals to go with four assists. His efforts on the attack led SRV to a second-place finish in the EBAL and an appearance in the NCS Division 1 quarterfinals, before falling to wine country powerhouse Vintage-Napa.

Four times during the season Wiersdorf delivered the eventual deciding goal, and in a late-season win over Newark Memorial, he assisted on the game-winner. He also scored a key goal during a mid-January tie with Amador Valley, points that were crucial later in the year to holding off the Dons for that second-place finish behind De La Salle.

For his efforts throughout the season, we are pleased to recognize Will Wiersdorf as the Prep2Prep North Coast Section Sophomore of the Year.

Other players considered include Albany’s Fynn Hayton-Ruffner, Northgate’s James Walker and Pittsburg’s Quotama Massaquoi.

NOTE: We would like to thank our media partners, coaches, parents, players and fans for contributing photos for our all-section features. We salute all of the players that have made this a wonderful season of NCS soccer.
