NCS Sophomore of the Year
JOVON MCCLANAHAN, SALESIAN

McClanahan joined James Akinjo in the starting backcourt for the Pride following the completion of football season, and helped Salesian win 15 straight games during the regular season, capture the TCAL-Rock tournament title, and the NCS Division 3 championship.

He was a force down the stretch for Salesian, leading the team in scoring in a NCS semifinal win over San Marin, with 19 points, and again against De La Salle in the CIF Open Division bracket.

In a loaded league - one which produced a state champion and a CIF Open Division team, not to mention both teams were section champions - the sophomore earned second-team all-league honors, and was recognized as the top sophomore in the league.

McClanahan also illustrated his ability to deliver in the clutch for Salesian during the TCAL-Rock title game against St. Patrick-St. Vincent, capping a late 12-0 to send the game to overtime with his two late, pressure-packed free throws.

Other players considered for this award: Washington’s Nathan Narciso, Salesian’s Jaden McClanahan, and Stuart Hall’s Miles Amos.

NOTE: We would like to thank our media partners, coaches, parents, players and fans for contributing photos for our all-section features. We salute all of the players that have made this a wonderful season of NCS basketball.
