NCS Senior of the Year
JADE SMITH, ST. JOSEPH NOTRE DAME

The BCL-East Co-MVP, Smith led the way for the top team in the North Coast Section, one which defeated CIF Division 4 champion St. Pat’s on three different occasions, and also picked up a non-league win over De La Salle.

Headed to Pepperdine next season, Smith - whose first name is pronounced Juh-DEE - was the leader for a Pilots team which won 28 straight games during the season. He did not play in the team’s CIF Open Division loss to Archbishop Mitty.

Smith nearly registered a quadruple-double in the team’s NCS quarterfinal win over Healdsburg, and would likely have averaged those numbers had he played more minutes during the season, as St. Joe’s rolled to one-sided victories in a majority of games. As it was, he averaged 17 points and nine rebounds per game.

A four-year varsity player, Smith was an All-NCS selection as well after his junior season. The Pilots won 30 games twice during his career, and he helped lead the program to three NCS titles and two CIF championships over the last four years. Smith leaves the Alameda campus having won 103 games during his high school career.

Others players considered for this award: St. Patrick-St. Vincent’s Tavian Henderson, Marin Catholic’s Joey Calcaterra, and Dublin’s Timmy Falls.

NOTE: We would like to thank our media partners, coaches, parents, players and fans for contributing photos for our all-section features. We salute all of the players that have made this a wonderful season of NCS basketball.
