Fort Scott closes out Andover Central, 6-4

May 30, 2014

Top-seeded Fort Scott sent 10 batters to the plate in a five-run second inning and held on for a 6-4 victory over No. 8 Andover Central in the quarterfinals of the 41 Division I Kansas State Tournament Thursday.

The Tigers chased starter Lucas Millner in the second inning by putting their first three batters aboard. Fort Scott batted around and scored five runs in the second to take an early lead.

Andover Central rallied for three runs in the seventh to pull to within 6-4, but Fort Scott sophomore Carter Young slammed the door to record the save.

The Tigers will take on the winner of Topeka-Hayden vs. Paolo Friday at 11 am in the semifinals.
