San Marin and Novato, both schools in the Novato Unified School District, are each seeking new head football coaches.
Whoever is hired for these respective programs will step into two vastly different situations. San Marin has made the playoffs in every year this decade, largely under the leadership of Steve Stanfel. The Mustangs won seven or more games in each of the last six seasons.
Novato, meanwhile, nearly did not have a varsity football team this past season, and wound up going 0-9 with just 55 points scored. Kevin Keenan took the reins just before the year started, after the resignation of previous coach Jason Searle. The Hornets listed 28 players on the varsity football roster after all was said and done, but there does appear to be reason for optimism, with a junior varsity team that boasted a 6-2 overall record.
