Vintage loses key game to Wood

VACAVILLE, CA- Vintage traveled to Vacaville to face Wood in a crucial game Friday night. With a close 24-21 loss, now their playoff chances hang in the balance.

Vintage (6-2 overall, 2-1 Monticello Empire League) scored first in the game. Isaiah Garcia scored from 16-yards out to make it 6-0 with 2:36 left in the first quarter.

Wood (5-3, 3-0 MEL) answered back when Asa Wondeh scored a short TD. At the half the Crushers were behind 10-6 when Austin Clark made a 34-yard field goal with 2.1 seconds left in the half.

The Wildcats made it 17-6 with 8:33 left in the third when Daniel McFadden he scored from a yard out. With 1:12 left in the third the Wildcats extended their lead even more when Christian Catlin scored on a 54-yard rushing touchdown making it 24-6.

Vintage staged a comeback in the fourth quarter racking up 15 points. With 11:41 left when Michael Webber scored a touchdown, and they got the two-point try. The Crushers also scored once more, but it wasn’t enough.

For Vintage they will face crosstown Napa rival next week in the annual Big Game, while Wood will host rival Vacaville in the Black-and-Blue Bowl.
