Host Washington extended its lead in the MVAL to four points with a 3-1 win over visiting James Logan Thursday night in a key girls soccer match.
The Huskies, who got goals from juniors Kassie Rosales and Maya Mariano in addition to freshman Alexis McClain, improved to 8-5-0 overall (8-2-0 MVAL, 24 points). The Colts, who could have taken over first place with a win, dropped to 8-8-2 overall (6-2-2 MVAL, 20).
Washington, which led 1-0 at half, avenged a 2-1 loss at Logan back on January 6. Since that time, the Huskies have won seven of their last eight matches to establish control of the MVAL lead with just four matches remaining.
Washington hosts Newark Memorial Tuesday night (5:45 pm). James Logan hosts winless Irvington Tuesday night (6 pm).
