Vikings pick up first win, 35-13 over Del Mar

After suffering a tough loss against the Gunderson last Friday in its opening game, the Lynbrook football team bounced back to defeat Del Mar Dons, 35-13, Friday night in San Jose. The victory marks the first win of the season for the Vikings (1-1) and is the second year in a row in which they have knocked off the Dons (0-2).

The Viking offense got on the board nine minutes into the game when quarterback Gabe Wagner-Rosales scored the first of his two touchdowns on the night. Lynbrook broke the game open in the second quarter on rushing TDs by Tim Wallis and Kyle Williams and a touchdown pass from Wagner-Rosales to Maximo Brogley to put the Vikings up, 28-0, at the break.

Lynbrook extended the lead to 35-0 in the fourth quarter on a TD pass from Wagner-Rosales to Lucas Ranieri. The Dons came back with two scores in the fourth quarter to make the final score more respectable. Chad Gines scored the first TD for Del Mar with less than three minutes to play and the Dons scored again with just 49 seconds left to trim the lead to 35-13.

Next week, Lynbrook continues its tour of the BVAL-West Valley Division when it visits James Lick on Friday night. Del Mar

Next week, the Vikings look to defeat the James Lick Comets at James Lick (Friday, 7 pm) while Del Mar hosts the Alisal (Friday, 6:30 pm) in search of its first win.
