It was a near-perfect performance for The King's Academy, on the road at Monterey in the Central Coast Section Division V semifinals on Saturday. The Knights scored the first 28 points of the game in the first half, and then cruised to the 55-14 victory over the Toreadores.
TKA racked up 553 yards of total offense in the game, highlighted by a tremendous all-around effort from senior Bralyn Lux. Lux ran for 201 yards and five touchdowns, on 16 carries, while adding three catches for 116 yards, including a 94-yard touchdown reception. He was hardly the only offensive weapon.
Junior Jayden Frazier added to the totals with 13 carries for 110 yards and a score, while senior Caleb Tan was 6-for-6 passing the ball, for 159 yards and a touchdown. Tan also scored once on the ground.
Meanwhile, sophomore Noah Short continued to lead the solid defensive performances. Short had 11 tackles, including two tackles for a loss, along with two sacks. Senior Matt Wilson added 2.5 sacks, as the Knights got to the quarterback on eight different occasions.
TKA advances to the Division V championship game, where the Knights will face unbeaten Carmel, who beat Gonzales 57-14 in the other semifinal.
