Centennial didn’t start off their Southern California title defense with a cupcake opponent.
The Huskies played one of Arizona’s premier football teams to open up their season, in Chandler.
In a thriller, Centennial beat Chandler 56-49 in a shootout at Norco High.
The game was tied at 49 before the Huskies stopped Chandler on the goal line and drove down the field for the go-ahead score.
Quarterback Tanner McKee, in his first start, led the team on a 98-yard drive to win the game.
McKee had six total touchdowns (four rushing and two throwing) and 367 yards passing in the victory. Huskies running back Miles Reed rushed for 291 yards and scored two touchdowns.
Centennial takes on IMG Academy on Saturday.
