Ohio recap: Rettig on fire as Lake improves to 7-2

Each week, Prep2Prep will provide summaries of key games involving Ohio high school football teams throughout the six divisions. In this summary we look at Division IV, V, VI and VII.

Division IV

Lake 56, Rossford 35: Flyers senior quarterback Jared Rettig led the way in a huge offensive affair as Lake improved to 4-1 on the road and 7-2 overall. Rettig completed 25 of 29 pass attempts for 340 yards and four touchdowns on his way to a stellar 162.4 QB rating.

East 50, Jefferson Township 16: The Tigers dominated the game from start to finish to pick up their first victory of the year. Meanwhile the Broncos fall to 0-9 for the year. Offensively, the Tigers were led by senior quarterback Brandon Hurd who completed 13 of 16 pass attempts for 467 yards and three touchdowns.

Hurd's favorite target was senior wide receiver Isiah Carter, who caught 6 passes for 249 yards, including a 75-yarder for a touchdown. Carter finished with two touchdown receptions.

Johnstown-Monroe 27, Heath 7: The Bulldogs defense had no answer for the Johnnies run game. Senior running back Cody Farley carried the load on the ground as he carried the ball 34 times for 262 yards and three touchdowns.

Division V

Triway 54, Manchester 13: The Titans dominated on the road to remain a perfect 9-0 on the season. Senior quarterback Parker Carmichael had himself another strong game as completed 24 of 34 pass attempts for 362 yards and four touchdowns. Carmichael also scrambled for 48 yards on the ground and one rushing touchdown.

Pymatuning Valley 50, Grand Valley 26: Lakers senior running back Nick Such had himself a night to remember as he carried the ball a remarkable 47 times for 361 yards and seven touchdowns. With the win, the Lakers improved to 5-4.

Division VI

Woodridge 49, Waterloo 7: The Bulldogs could not be tamed as they cruised to an easy road win against the Vikings to improve their record to 7-2. Offensively, most of the damage was done through the air as senior quarterback Tom Finegan completed 16 of 20 pass attempts for 292 yards and five touchdowns.

Mechanicsburg-55, NorthEastern-26: The Indians exploded offensively and coasted to an easy home win against the Jets to improve their record for 7-2. Seven players combined for 416 rushing yards. Senior Aeryton Erwin led the way with 16 carries for 193 yards and four touchdowns.

Division VII

Lehman Catholic 56, Waynesfield-Goshen 10: The Cavaliers dominated both sides of the ball as they improved to 7-2 on the season. Senior quarterback Nick Rourke had a nice game as he completed 16 of 30 pass attempts for 277 yards and four touchdowns.

Upper Scioto Valley 40, Ridgemont 20: Rams sophomore running back Austin Sloan dominated the Golden Gophers with his legs as he carried the ball 24 times for 366 yards and three touchdowns.
