The Sacred Heart Cathedral Fightin' Irish had plenty of reason to celebrate on St. Patrick's Day, a day after its boys and girls teams won Northern California Regional titles at American Canyon High School.
The Irish boys defeated Campolindo 55-52 in overtime on Liam O'Reilly's follow shot with 15 seconds left in OT.
The victory was SHC's fourth regional title game triumph in six tries.
Khalil James led SHC with 14 points, seven rebounds and five assists. His game-tying 3-pointer with 31 seconds left in the fourth quarter sent the game into overtime.
O'Reilly had 13 points and seven rebounds and DeOndre Otis scored 10 points and took six rebounds.
SHC will now meet St. Augustine of San Diego, 61-57 winners over Chaminade, in Friday's 4 pm Division IV title game at Sacramento's Sleep Train Arena.
The Irish also prevailed in the Division III girls game, 46-28 against City rival St. Ignatius. The victory was SHC's seventh regional title-game victory in 12 tries.
Kairee Howard led the Irish with 12 points. Briannah Smith backed Howard with 11 points and Ashanti Coleman scored 10 points and took nine rebounds.
The Irish led by seven points at the half, but boosted the lead to 20 early in the fourth quarter.
The Irish girls will meet Alemany, 60-47 winners against Chaminade, in the Division III state title game at 2 p.m. Saturday, also at Sleep Train Arena.
