CCS Junior of the Year
MAILEY MCLEMORE, CARLMONT

There wasn't much separating our two finalists for Prep2Prep Central Coast Section Junior of the Year, but in the end, we gave the edge to Carlmont star Mailey McLemore.

Despite sharing pitching duties with fellow junior Abygail Lan, McLemore put up exceptional numbers in the circle, finishing 14-2 with a 1.73 ERA and 86 strikeouts. Opposing batters hit below .200 against her.

The UC-Santa Barbara commit also excelled at the plate, hitting .479 with five home runs, 37 RBIs, 11 doubles, four triples and 36 runs scored. She also led her team to a co-championship in the ultra-tough Peninsula Athletic League-Bay Division and the No. 1 seed in the CCS Open Division, which consists of the top eight teams in the section. McLemore was also named CCS Player of the Year by Cal-Hi Sports Bay Area.

After getting a win against Mountain View in the first round of the Open Division, McLemore and the Scots had their season ended by eventual champion Archbishop Mitty in the semifinals, but she’ll be back in the circle next season and Carlmont should be an Open Division contender once again.

For all of her accomplishments, Mailey McLemore is the Prep2Prep CCS Junior of the Year.

Other players considered for this award include: Half Moon Bay's Grace Garcia.

NOTE: We would like to thank our media partners, coaches, parents, players and fans for contributing photos for our all-section features. We salute all of the players that have made this a wonderful season of CCS softball.
