CCS Freshman of the Year
LEXI PARISH, SOBRATO
When deciding on the Prep2Prep Central Coast Section Freshman of the Year for softball, it didn't just come down to numbers. However, even if it had only been about offensive stats, Sobrato standout Lexi Parish would have been difficult to overlook.
Named the Freshman of the Year in the BVAL-Mount Hamilton "A" Division, Parish went up against some of the toughest competition CCS has to offer. And oh by the way, Parish is also an accomplished pitcher.
There were freshmen with more impressive raw numbers, but Parish hit .500 with 53 total hits, one home run, five triples, 14 doubles, 35 runs scored and 12 stolen bases - yes, she runs the bases well, too - against top competition.
Parish also stood out in the circle, going 7-1 with a 2.20 ERA, 40 strikeouts and only 16 walks over 63 2/3 innings for a team that finished just 17-12 overall (7-7 BVAL-MH). For her accomplishments, Parish is the clear choice for Prep2Prep CCS Freshman of the Year.
Other players considered for this award include: Santa Catalina's Abby Gunter and Watsonville's Angelina Heredia.
