Presentation's Jayne Cowell celebrates with her team after winning the CCS Division II title.

CCS Junior of the Year
JAYNE COWELL, PRESENTATION

The West Catholic Athletic League’s co-Midfielder of the Year, Cowell led the Panthers with eight assists while also scoring five goals of her own. The team captain was also a major factor in Presentation controlling the ball throughout the post-season, and the end result was a run to the CCS Division II championship that included four straight shutouts in the playoffs.

Cowell assisted on one of the Panthers’ two goals in a title game win over Sobrato, and she also scored the game-winning goal in a 1-0 win over Notre Dame in the quarterfinals. She registered another assist in an opening round win over Soquel.

The junior standout played a key role in nearly every victory this season for the Panthers, but especially in league play. Cowell scored goals or assisted on them in each of Presentation’s victories against WCAL opponents, collecting four points in the two victories over Valley Christian, and also assisting on goals in a win over St. Ignatius and a draw with Open Division semifinalist St. Francis.

Other players considered for this award: Mountain View’s Laura Carceroni, Valley Christian’s Oryann Addison, and Palo Alto’s Clara Luehrs.

NOTE: We would like to thank our media partners, coaches, parents, players and fans for contributing photos for our all-section features. We salute all of the players that have made this a wonderful season of CCS soccer.
