Serra opened WCAL play with a 61-0 thrashing at Sacred Heart Cathedral. The Padres likely face their biggest test in league play Saturday when they host No. 2 Saint Francis.
Junior Keala Keanaaina rushed for 167 yards and 4 TDs in a 42-20 win over Archbishop Mitty. The Lancers take a shot at No. 1 Serra Saturday afternoon in San Mateo.
Los Gatos was off last week and hosts Pittsburg Friday night in an intriguing intersectional matchup.
Valley Christian improved to 4-0 with a 23-7 win over Bellarmine in its WCAL opener. The Warriors travel to Archbishop Riordan Saturday afternoon in a crucial matchup.
The Crusaders continued their impressive campaign with a hard-fought 41-34 win over visiting St. Ignatius in their WCAL opener. Riordan hosts Valley Christian Saturday afternoon.
Aptos was off last week and opens PCAL-Gabilan action Friday night at home against Alvarez.
Senior QB Joey Campagna completed 9 of 16 passes for 197 yards and 2 TDs, but the Monarchs fell 42-20 to Saint Francis. Mitty hosts Sacred Heart Cathedral Friday night.
Wilcox fell to 2-2 with a 21-7 loss at home against Edison-Huntington Beach. The Chargers open PAL-Bay play Friday night when they host Mountain View.
Monterey staked an early claim for the PCAL-Gabilan title with a 22-15 win at Palma. The Toreadores continue league play with a trip to Soquel Friday night.
Salinas opened PCAL-Gabilan action with a 27-0 win at Soquel. The Cowboys are off this week, giving them two weeks to prepare for a showdown with Aptos October 5.
A late rally fell short as SI dropped its WCAL opener, 41-34 at Archbishop Riordan. The Wildcats are back in action Friday night at home against Bellarmine.
Undefeated Menlo (4-0) was off last week and opens PAL-De Anza play as a heavy favorite against visiting Homestead Saturday afternoon.
Palma was knocked off 22-15 at home by Monterey in its PCAL-Gabilan opener. The Chieftains pay a visit to rival Hollister Friday night.
The Bells dropped their third straight against tough competition, losing their WCAL opener 23-7 at Valley Christian. Bellarmine looks to break the skid Friday night in San Francisco against St. Ignatius.
Junior QB Xander Eschelman completed 12 of 16 passes for 134 yards and 2 TDs in a 21-0 non-league win over Palo Alto. The Bears are off this week and open PAL-Bay action October 6 at home against Wilcox.
The surprising Fighting Knights (4-0) were off last week and open PAL-De Anza action Friday night at home against Half Moon Bay.
Sacred Heart Prep was off last week and opens PAL-Bay play Friday night at home against Burlingame.
Junior QB Jaxen Robinson completed 13 of 18 passes for 148 yards and 2 TDs in a 35-0 win at Gilroy as the Cougars concluded non-league play with a 5-0 record. Christopher is off this week and opens BVAL-MH play October 6 at Oak Grove.
Senior Josh Gagni rushed for 281 yards and 2 TDs in a 42-21 win over Branham as the Acorns improved to 4-0. Live Oak is off this week and opens BVAL-MH play October 6 at home against Lincoln.
Mountain View was off last week and will look to spring the upset Friday night in Santa Clara against longtime league foe Wilcox in a PAL-Bay opener.
Carmel opened play in the PCAL-Mission South with a 27-23 win over Alisal. Next up is a trip to North Salinas in what could turn out to be a pivotal game in the league title race.
North Salinas improved to 4-1 with a 36-0 win at Soledad to open PCAL-Mission South play. The Vikings host undefeated Carmel Thursday night.
Hollister fell to 1-3 with a surprising 26-23 loss to Alvarez. The Balers may need an upset of Palma Friday night to stay in the top 25.
As expected, the Irish were no match for Serra in a 61-0 loss. SHC travels to Mitty Friday night looking for its first win after opening the season with four defeats.
The Knights moved into the top 25 on the strength of a 46-7 win over Lowell. Junior QB Reid Black completed 8 of 13 passes for 114 yards and 3 TDs for the Knights, who travel to SoCal to take on undefeated Rio Honda Prep Friday night in Irwindale.
