The freshman quarterback led The King's Academy to an 8-3 mark and a trip to the CCS Division V playoffs, where the Knights lost a thriller, 50-47, to Carmel. In that game, Johnson hit on 23 of 36 passes for 385 yards and three touchdowns.

For the season, Johnson completed 109 of 179 passes (61 percent) for 2,248 yards and rushed for 358 yards on 69 carries for four scores. He also had 46 tackles (seven for loss), three interceptions, one fumble recovery and one caused fumble.
