The three winners of the Open Division playoffs automatically advance to the Northern
California playoffs with two of the three runner-ups advancing as well. The season will end for all the Division IV and V teams at the conclusion of the section playoffs.
LAST WEEK'S RESULTS: 5-5 (.500)
OVERALL: 20-10 (.667)

MILPITAS (0-0-0)
at No. 1
BELLARMINE COLLEGE PREP (0-0-0)
Friday 12/4 (7:00 PM), San Jose City College
HEAD-TO-HEAD: None
COMMON OPPONENTS: Bellarmine 1-0 (def. Valley Christian 24-21), Milpitas 0-1 (lost to Valley Christian 22-21)
Neither team has been tested yet in the Open Division 1 playoffs, but this figures to be an excellent matchup. The two teams met
in the Open Division semifinals a year ago, with the underdog Bells pulling off a 9-6 overtime win over the Trojans, which suffered
their only loss of the season.
Milpitas certainly has the athletes to match Bellarmine's but we give a slight edge to the Bells.
PREDICTION: Bellarmine College Prep 20, Milpitas 17

OAK GROVE (0-0-0)
at No. 1
ST. FRANCIS (0-0-0)
Saturday 12/5 (7:00 PM), San Jose City College
HEAD-TO-HEAD: St. Francis def. Oak Grove, 28-13
COMMON OPPONENTS: St. Francis 2-0 (def. Pioneer 52-28; def. Valley Christian 21-16), Oak Grove 2-1 (def. Pioneer 55-7; lost to Valley Christian 24-0; def. Valley Christian 42-23)
Although Oak Grove was the No. 2 seed, few expected the champions of the Blossom Valley Athletic League to take down WCAL powers Mitty and Valley Christian to reach the championship game. But
Rashaan Fontenette has been a one-man wrecking crew, accounting for 11 touchdowns to carry the Eagles to the brink of a title.
Junior Cyrus Habibi-Likio ran for 250 yards and four touchdowns to carry St. Francis past Wilcox in the semifinals. And while the Lancers had little trouble with Oak Grove in the season opener September 4, it is
clear the Eagles are a completely different team after welcoming back three key players who were academically ineligible during the regular season.
PREDICTION: Oak Grove 30, St. Francis 24

SACRED HEART PREP (0-0-0)
at No. 5
ARCHBISHOP RIORDAN (0-0-0)
Saturday 12/5 (7:00 PM), Westmont High School, Campbell
HEAD-TO-HEAD: Archbishop Riordan def. Sacred Heart Prep, 48-21
COMMON OPPONENTS: Archbishop Riordan 3-0 (def. Menlo-Atherton 26-9; def. Burlingame 30-28, def. Palma 17-14), Sacred Heart Prep 1-2 (lost to Menlo-Atherton 17-14; def. Burlingame 42-33, lost to Palma 31-28)
Riordan spotted Palma a 14-0 lead before rallying for a 17-14 win that probably assured the Crusaders of another game beyond this one.
Sacred Heart Prep is much improved from the team that suffered a home blowout loss against Riordan in the second game of the season. Since that defeat, the Gators have lost just twice - both by just three
points. The Gators are not the same team that won the Open Division championship a year ago but they are also not the same team that lost by 27 to the Crusaders.
PREDICTION: Archbishop Riordan 27, Sacred Heart Prep 23
