Prep2Prep

Devante Doutrive was the leader of a loaded Birmingham team that won its first Open Division title in the L.A. City Section. Along with brother Devonaire Doutrive and teammate Deschon Winston, the Patriots finished 27-4, including a perfect 10-0 mark in league play. The Patriots lost to Chino Hills in the state tournament, but Devante Doutrive can look back on his season with pride after averaging 22.3 points and 8.5 rebounds per game for Birmingham.

Devonaire has another season to play at Birmingham, and the 6-foot-5 forward is ranked as the state’s second-best small forward, according to Scout. The junior has attracted offers from Arizona State, UTEP and Loyola Marymount, and is drawing interest from Oregon and Gonzaga. Devonaire scored 24 points and pulled down eight rebounds in the team’s section title-clinching win over Westchester.
