P2P CCS Football Top 25

Prep2Prep CCS Rankings

THROUGH WEEK 14

November 30, 2023

Not much movement in the final rankings, but a shout-out to Soquel for its dominance in the Division 2 playoffs as the Knights captured their first-ever CCS title. Los Gatos finishes No. 2 following a resounding win over Wilcox and Palo Alto justifies its position in the top 25 with a CCS Division 4 championship.

Note: Last week's rankings in parentheses

After cruising to the CCS Open Division title, Serra is now in the middle of a three-week preparation period for the CIF Open championship on December 9. Serra will be taking on Mater Dei for the title.

The rematch with longtime rival Wilcox was nothing like the first matchup as the Wildcats rolled to a 49-14 win over the Chargers for the CCS Division 1 title. Los Gatos led 42-7 at halftime behind four touchdowns from senior Jaylen Thomas. Los Gatos will face El Cerrito Saturday for the CIF State NorCal 2-A championship.

One of the unfortunate side effects of the new playoff system is that a team like Wilcox winds up taking two postseason losses following a terrific season. Perhaps after having to face superpower Serra, the Chargers just didn't have enough in the tank and fell 49-14 to a Los Gatos team they led until the final seconds in the regular-season meeting. Wilcox ends the season with an overall record of 8-5 but we will keep them at No. 3 in the final rankings.

Saint Francis' season ended in a 52-28 loss to Wilcox in the first round of the Open/Division 1 playoffs.

Archbishop Riordan's season ended in a 28-14 loss to Los Gatos in the first round of the Division 1 playoffs.

SI's season ended with a tight 21-17 loss at Los Gatos in the Division 1 semifinals. The Wildcats finished 7-5.

Valley Christian's season ended in a 21-17 loss to St. Ignatius in the first round of the Division 1 playoffs.

Salinas' season ended in a 47-7 loss to Serra in the first round of the Open/Division 1 playoffs.

Soquel won its first-ever CCS championship 28-0 over Christopher behind a stout defensive effort that limited the Cougars to 102 total yards. The Knights will take on Casa Roble for the CIF NorCal Division 4-AA championship.

Christopher's terrific season ended in a 28-0 loss to Soquel in the CCS Division 1 championship game. After coming up with come-from-behind wins over Mitty and Menlo, Christopher had no answer for the Soquel front four which recorded four sacks of star junior QB Jaxen Robinson. The Cougars finish the season 11-2.

Monterey's season ended with a 22-0 loss to Soquel in the Division 2 semifinals. The Toreadores finished 8-4.

Sacred Heart Prep's season ended in a 38-24 loss to Monterey in the first round of the Division 2 playoffs.

Menlo's season ended in a 21-17 loss to Christopher in the Division 2 semifinals. The Knights finished 10-2.

Mitty's season ended in a 32-28 loss to Christopher in the Division 2 semifinals.

Live Oak's season ended in a 30-28 loss to Menlo in the first round of the Division 2 playoffs.

Palma won a CCS title for the first time in 12 years with a 38-20 win over Alisal in the CCS Division 3 championship game. The Chieftains will face Hughson for the CIF NorCal Division 4-A title.

Hollister's season ended in a 38-10 loss to Palma in the first round of the Division 3 playoffs.

Bellarmine did not qualify for the CCS playoffs and finished the season with a 2-8 record.

Menlo-Atherton's season ended in a 28-21 loss to Palma in the Division 3 semifinals. The Bears finished 5-7.

Alisal came up short in its quest for a first-ever CCS title, losing 38-20 to Palma in the Division 3 title game. The Trojans finish the season 10-3.

Scotts Valley's season ended in a 28-7 loss to Alisal in the Division 3 semifinals. The Falcons finished 10-2.

Carmel's season ended with a 35-14 loss to Soquel in the first round of the Division 2 playoffs.

For the second year in a row, Palo Alto emerged as a CCS champion after beating stopping Mountain View on a last-minute two-point conversion to hang on, 34-33. The Vikings will take on St. Vincent de Paul for the Division 6-AA NorCal championship.

Aptos did not qualify for the CCS playoffs and finished the season with a 2-8 record.

Mountain View's season ended in agonizing fashion, as the Spartans came up short on a two-point conversion in a 34-33 to longtime rival Palo Alto in the CCS Division 4 title game.Mountain View finished the season 6-7.
