Prep2Prep CCS Rankings

THROUGH WEEK 10

November 1, 2023

There is no change in the top 5 but Live Oak makes another move up the Prep2Prep CCS rankings in anticipation of its showdown with Christopher for the BVAL-Mount Hamilton title.

Note: Last week's rankings in parentheses

For the first time since its season opener against Folsom, Serra was tested in a 24-13 win at Valley Christian. The Padres led just 14-13 late in the third quarter before their defense enabled them to pull away late. Serra wraps up the regular season Friday night at home against St. Ignatius.

Junior Keala Keanaaina rushed for 139 yards and 3 TDs in a 27-20 win over Archbishop Riordan to vault Saint Francis into second place in the WCAL. The Lancers end the regular season Friday night at Bellarmine.

The Crusaders fell short in the battle for second place in the WCAL, losing 27-20 to Saint Francis despite the efforts of sophomore QB Mike Mitchell Jr (16-of-24, 196 yards, 1 TD) and senior RB Charlie Johnson (79 yards rushing, 1 TD). Riordan closes out the regular season with a home game against Sacred Heart Cathedral.

Los Gatos drove 80 yards in two minutes to pull out a 24-21 victory over Wilcox and secure at least a share of the PAL-Bay title. The Wildcats can win the championship outright when they host Menlo-Atherton Friday night.

Salinas remained undefeated in the PCAL-Gabilan with a 34-14 win over Palma. The Cowboys finish the season at home against Hollister with a chance to clinch an outright championship

SI defeated Archbishop Mitty 28-21 to guarantee a top-four finish and automatic CCS playoff berth. The Wildcats travel to San Mateo to take on No. 1 Serra Friday night.

Wilcox was two minutes away from a perfect PAL-Bay season and league championship, but Los Gatos drove 80 yards to pull out a 24-21 victory. The Chargers host crosstown rival Santa Clara as huge favorites.

Senior Mikey McGrath threw 3 TD passes as Menlo cruised to a 33-0 win over Half Moon Bay. The undefeated Knights close out the season Friday night at home against rival Sacred Heart Prep.

Valley Christian lost for a third consecutive week, but gave Serra its toughest league matchup to date in a 24-13 loss. The Warriors finish the season Friday night at Mitty.

Mitty fell short against St. Ignatius, losing 28-21. The Monarchs take on Valley Christian Friday in a battle for 5th place in the WCAL.

Soquel was off last week and finishes the season Friday night at Aptos.

Christopher continued its dominance of the BVAL-MH with a 42-0 win over Leland. The Cougars host Live Oak Thursday night with the league title on the line.

Junior Luke Newell completed 8 of 11 passes for 144 yards and 2 TDs in a 28-10 win over Oak Grove to help keep the Acorns undefeated. Live Oak meets fellow unbeaten Christopher for the BVAL-Mount Hamilton title Thursday night in Gilroy.

Palma fell to 2-3 in the PCAL-Gabilan with a 34-14 loss to first-place Salinas. The Chieftains need a win at Alvarez to assure an automatic berth to the CCS playoffs.

Hollister picked up a big 29-26 win over Aptos to move a huge step closer to a potential CCS playoff bid. With first-place Salinas still on the schedule, a loss could have eliminated the Balers from playoff contention.

Bellarmine earned its first WCAL win by defeating Sacred Heart Cathedral 23-13. Even with an upset win over Saint Francis, however, the Bells will not be eligible for the CCS playoffs having lost to both Mitty and Valley Christian.

Carmel remained unbeaten with a 46-12 win over Soledad. The Padres will shoot for a perfect regular season Saturday night at Pacific Grove.

Senior Jack Stevens rushed for 94 yards and 3 TDs in a 50-17 win over Mountain View as SHP clinched third place in the PAL-Bay. The Gators travel down the street and out of league to take on undefeated Menlo Friday night.

Scotts Valley wrapped up at least a share of the PCAL-Missoni North with a 14-0 win over North Monterey County. The Falcons finish the season Saturday afternoon at home against Santa Cruz.

Senior Alek Marshall caught 6 passes for 115 yards and 2 TDs in a 38-7 win over Burlingame to help the Bears clinch an automatic bid to the CCS playoffs. M-A wraps up the season at first-place Los Gatos Friday night.

Palma fell to 2-3 in the PCAL-Gabilan with a 34-14 loss to first-place Salinas. The Chieftains need a win at Alvarez to assure an automatic berth to the CCS playoffs.

Desipte a huge game from senior QB Erick Waugh (17-of-26, 432 yards, 5 TDs), Hillsdale fell to The King's Academy 41-35 to drop into third place in the PAL-De Anza. The Knights finish the regular season Friday night at home against Aragon.

Aptos continued a rough stretch with a 29-26 loss at Hollister. It was the fourth loss in a row for the Mariners, who may need a win over Soquel to get into the CCS playoffs.

Alisal moves into the rankings on the strength of a 28-14 win over North Salinas to move into second place in the PCAL-Mission South and earn an automatic CCS playoff berth. The Trojans finish the season Friday night when they host Rancho San Juan.

Capuchno earned a share of the PAL-Ocean championship with a 21-14 win over Aragon. The Mustangs wrap up the regular season with a non-league matchup Friday night at home against Mills.
