Pioneer braces itself for TN aerial assault

September 14, 2012

On Friday, September 14 at 7 p.m., Terra Nova (0-2) will play the host Pioneer Mustangs (1-1).

“We played hard these two first games," Pioneer coach Eric Perry said. "The effort has been there. We just need to improve our execution on offense.”

Perry and his team will now brace themselves for TN's aerial assault.

“This is going to be the first team that we have played that primarily throws the football, so we'll spend a little extra time working on our coverage and getting to the QB.”

Added quarterback Devin Appleton: “Defensively we are taking into account their predominant passing game as well as their biggest threat, the quarterback. He can throw, run and do it well.”

Terra Nova throws an average of 38 passes per game as compared to Pioneer which averages around 12 passes.

Said Appleton: “My mindset is to forget about the game itself, but to know my job and to know the man I will have to beat on the other side of the ball.

Added Perry: "This is going to be a tough game. We went up there last year and got a big win and I know they didn't like that, so I'm sure they want to return the favor this year. It's going to be a good game for us to gauge where we are right now."
