Hughson upset by Summerville

SUMMERVILLE,CA - Host Summerville (3-1) took an early lead on Alex Prevost’s 3 yard touchdown with 4:40 left in the 1st quarter, and would dominate the fourth quarter, beating previously undefeated Hughson, 20-13.

Summerville would lead at the end of the first quarter following Prevost’s touchdown,but the Huskies scored a touchdown at the end of the second quarter to tie the game at six going into halftime. Hughson quarterback Josh Megee connected with Joseph Ramos of the Huskies, and he took the ball 54 yards for the score with 1:24 left in the first half. But the Huskies missed the extra point. leaving the game tied.

The Huskies took a second-half lead when Griffin Genzoli scored a rushing touchdown from one yard out with 55 seconds left in the third quarter.

But the Summerville Bears would come back at the end of the game, scoring a pair of touchdowns in the fourth quarter. Luke Fulkerson scored both times for the Bears, and ran for 49 yards on the two game-winning drives. His score with 3:11 remaining in the game provided the decisive points.

“Not so much went wrong it’s just that they're a really well coached team and they came out very strong.” said Hughson coach Vince Brown. "We have to fine tune our mistakes and go to the film room and see what we did wrong."

“I feel good. We respect Hughson, especially with a great coach. who is one of my former players," said Summerville coach Sean Leveroos. "We were feeling a little nervous about Griffin Genzoli, as we have seen him look good on film, and we had to step our game up.”

Hughson (3-1) faces Liberty Ranch (3-1) on the road next Friday. Summerville will take a break next Friday, as it has a bye week.
