PREP2PREP CLASSIC: Carter hopes to seize opportunity

August 26, 2015

Upon being selected to represent the NorCal Class of 2017 in the first-ever Prep2Prep California All-Star Classic, Sacred Heart Cathedral forward Ramzi Carter had a refreshingly honest reaction: "I was thinking it was about time because I was hoping to get some sort of exposure. This is a great experience and I hope I can make the best of it."

If you haven't heard too much about Carter, he is looking forward to the opportunity to let his game do the talking. After helping the Fightin' Irish capture the Central Coast Section Division III championship as a sophomore, Carter expects the team to do even better this season. And he is looking to kick off what he hopes is a bountiful junior campaign with an appearance in the Prep2Prep All-Star Classic August 30 at Las Positas College.

"Personally I’m not nervous – I’ve played against high-caliber players before and I know what to expect," said Carter, a 6-6 forward who should provide an inside presence for the North squad. "I’ll go out and play hard and give it my best effort. I think I can beat just about anybody out there so I just got to go out and play hard and see what I can do."

Carter joins Sacred Heart Cathedral teammate Alfred Hollins on the 2017 NorCal squad, an indication that he might be right with regard to the Irish's bright future built around a core of young talent.

Junior year is also a time for players to get on the radar of college programs and while Carter has not presented a list of schools, he has begun the process of finding the right fit.

"Right now I’m just looking to get anywhere I can go D-I or somewhere I can get a good education – right now I’ve got to get my name out there," Carter said. "And even if basketball doesn’t go my way, I’m looking forward to still getting a good education."
