Florida recap: Cox throws 4 TD passes to lead Union County over Chiefland

Each week, Prep2Prep will take a look at selected Florida high school football games involving teams from Class 1A, 2A, 3A and 4A.

Florida 1A:

Union County High quarterback Caleb Cox was near perfect in a 48-13 victory over Chiefland.

Cox completed 20 of 24 pass attempts for 276 yards and four touchdowns and an interception in the win for the Indians.

Receiver Zak Lee had a game-high seven catches for 101 yards and two touchdowns in the win for the Indians.

Dixie County High junior running back Julian Robinson rushed for 81 yards on 21 carries as the Bears defeated Newberry 38-8.

Crystal River High running back Tyler Pollard ran for a game-high 93 yards and two touchdowns on 16 carries leading the Rattlers to a 28-7 win over Belleview.

Florida 2A:

Cambridge Christian quarterback Garrett Young combined for 432 yards of offense and three touchdowns to lead the Lancers to a 49-42 win over Carrollwood Day.

Young threw for 290 yards and a touchdown while completing 14 of 23 pass attempts and rushed for 142 yards and two scores on 20 carries in the victory.

Running back Andrew Cunningham rushed for 170 yards and four touchdowns on only 12 carries for the Lancers.

First Academy quarterback Ojay Cummings rushed when he needed to and passed when necessary in an Eagles 51-13 victory over the Master’s Academy.

The junior rushed for 246 yards on 14 carries including three touchdowns and threw for 47 yards and a touchdown on 4-of-7 passing for the First Academy.

Northside Christian quarterback Griffin Alstott didn’t throw it very much but when the sophomore did he made the most of it.

Alstott threw for 123 yards and three touchdowns while completing 7 of 10 attempts for the Crusaders in a 43-8 victory over Canterbury.

Florida 3A:

Orange Park senior running back Kirtis Davis ran for a game-high 113 yards and a touchdown and receiver Kevin Bullard caught five passes for 79 yards and a touchdown in a 21-6 Raiders victory over Parker.

Quarterback Bailey Cate threw for 137 yards on 9-of-17 passing with a touchdown and an interception for Orange Park.

Florida 4A:

Taylor High quarterback Matt Henry combined for 197 yards and three touchdowns to lead the Wildcats to a 34-28 victory over Florida School for the Deaf.

Henry ran for 140 yards on 16 carries including two touchdowns and completed 8 of 13 pass attempts for 57 yards and a touchdown in the win over Dragons.

Brandon High quarterback Isaiah Alexander threw for two touchdowns and 113 passing yards on 10-of-15 passing as the Eagles beat East Bay 28-17.

Running back Keith Cook ran for 112 yards on only five carries including two touchdowns in the win for Brandon.
