Bellafronto commits to Stanford

July 22, 2014

Bellarmine Class of 2015 third baseman Nick Bellafronto has made a verbal commitment to Stanford.

“Proud to say that I have verbally committed to play baseball at Stanford! Huge thank you to everyone who has supported me along the way,” Bellafronto announced on Twitter Tuesday afternoon.

In 31 games as a junior, Bellafronto batted .324 with two home runs, nine runs batted in, 16 runs scored and a .451 on base percentage. He also had a fielding percentage of .896 and stole seven bases.

The rising senior was awarded second-team all-WCAL honors in addition to helping his team to the WCAL playoff finals and Division I CCS championship game. Unfortunately for Bellafronto and the Bells, both games ended in losses.

“I think it’s a great honor for Nick and a testament to all the hard work he has put in to get to the point where he will be playing at the next level,” said Bells coach Mike Rodriguez.

Bellafronto will join fellow WCAL standout Kris Bubic from Mitty at Stanford, who committed to be a Cardinal back in the fall of 2013. The two rising seniors will be a few of the big names to look out for in the West Catholic and CCS next season.
