Cummings resigns from Branham basketball job

June 24, 2016

Sean Cummings has resigned as the Branham High boys’ basketball coach.

“He did a great job for us, leading the team to a BVAL West Valley Division Championship and a CCS Round 1 victory in his first year and overseeing the program's movement into the BVAL-Santa Teresa Division in 2015-16,” Branham athletic director Landon Jacobs said. “We wish Sean the best.”

Branham went 8-16 last season.

Said Cummings by email: "I resigned as the Branham basketball coach to be Mike Oakland's assistant softball coach at St. Francis. I have been coaching softball for five years and currently coach for San Jose Lady Sharks travel team. This was an opportunity I couldn't pass up."

Regarding what the Bruins will be looking for in a new coach, Jacobs said: “We are looking for a qualified individual who can continue to develop our student/athletes and continue to grow our boys’ basketball program.”
