Senior pitcher Christian Cedeno was instrumental in St. Mary’s-Colgan championship run last year and he started out this year’s 2-1A tournament in Great Bend no differently.
Cedeno went seven innings, striking out 13 batters and only allowed four hits, one walk, and one earned run as the Panthers defeated Mission Valley, 4-2.
On the offensive side of things, the Panthers racked up 10 hits but didn’t hit well with runners in scoring position stranding 10 base runners total.
St. Mary’s Colgan must now face an undefeated Udall team in the semifinals. Udall beat Cedar Vale/Dexter 4-0 in the first game of the day. They will play Friday at 11 am at the Great Bend Sports Complex.
