The Lancers advanced to the Northern California championship game of the Boras Classic but fell, 2-1, to last season’s Sac-Joaquin champion, Elk Grove. Before that defeat, the St. Francis pitching and defense recorded a 2-0 win over Yuba City, a 3-2 win over Pleasant Grove, and a 3-0 victory against Clovis West when John Gavin pitched a two-hitter and struck out 14.
2 (2) Archbishop Mitty 16-5
After falling to Oak Ridge, 2-1, the Monarchs went on to win three straight and take ninth place in the Boras Classic.
Mitty scored eight runs in each of the wins and Tommy Hudson had five hits in his last seven at bats, including four runs batted in.
3 (5) Valley Christian-San Jose 14-6
The Warriors impressively reached the championship game of the National Classic before a 3-2 loss to Huntington Beach in the final.
Ben Hughes pitched a two-hitter in a 4-0 win over Greenway-Arizona and Bryson Brigman was 6-for-14 in the four games.
4 (3) California 13-2
The Grizzlies avenged their first loss by overcoming a 4-0 hole in a 7-5 win versus Foothill as A.J. Velasquez hit his fourth homer of the season.
5 (4) De La Salle 13-4
The Spartans finished in seventh place of the Boras Classic after dropping a 1-0 contest to Pleasant Grove in their opening game.
The De La Salle bats came alive in a 11-0 win over Foothill-Palo Cedro and a 11-1 decision against Granite Bay. In the two games, Ben Polshuk went 5-for-6 with a couple of doubles and three runs batted in.
6 (6) Bellarmine 15-4
The Bells recorded a couple of solid home wins, a 2-0 victory over St. Mary’s-Stockton and a 6-3 decision over Westmont, as Jack Thoreson homered and drove in three runs.
7 (7) Campolindo 13-3
The Cougars crushed El Cerrito, Dublin, and Palo Alto, scoring 33 runs over the three games.
8 (8) San Ramon Valley 10-4
In a 6-5 win over rival Monte Vista, Matt Winaker had three hits and three runs batted in while Alex Barden took a shutout into the seventh inning.
9 (9) Amador Valley 11-4
The Dons lost to San Ramon Valley but crushed rival Foothill, 14-3, behind 15 hits and Austin Piscotty’s home run and four runs batted in.
10 (10) St. Ignatius 11-8
11 (12) College Park 14-2
The Falcons' win streak is at nine after a 2-1, 11-inning win over Drake when Joe Demers scored the winning run and pitched five hitless innings in relief.
12 (13) San Benito 14-3
The Balers play Valley Christian again this week - San Benito opened the season with a 2-0 win over the Warriors.
13 (15) Clayton Valley 17-0
The Ugly Eagles stayed unbeaten with two one-run wins over Northgate, including a 2-1 decision when Austin Cannedy pitched a seven-hitter and Ethan Utler hit a two-run home run.
14 (14) Leigh 13-4-1
15 (16) Serra 11-10
16 (23) Maria Carrillo 14-2
The Pumas have won 11 in a row, including a 5-0 Friday win at Casa Grande as Peter Hoge pitched a six-hitter and struck out six.
