For the sixth straight year, Heritage has made its trek from Brentwood to McKinleyville a worthwhile one, keeping alive its streak of Mad River Rotary Tipoff Tournament titles.
The Patriots met host McKinleyville in the tournament championship on Saturday afternoon, and got a huge 32-point performance from UC Davis-bound guard Ezra Manjon to lead the way for a 78-69 victory. 19 of Manjon's 32 points came in the second half, as the Patriots held off a fourth-quarter rally from the hosts, who got a 20-point effort from AJ Stubbs.
Saleem Mahdi chipped in 12 points for Heritage, while Joel Webb and Mitch Herode had 11 points each for the Patriots in the title game.
Earlier in the tournament, Heritage took down Lincoln-San Francisco, 70-51, and routed River Valley-Yuba City, 81-37. Manjon was named the tournament's MVP, while Mahdi and Herode both collected all-tournament honors.
Heritage now carries a three-game winning streak into this Tuesday's home game against San Ramon Valley.
