The West Alameda County Conference released its all-league teams for the fall season. In the Foothill Division, league champion Bishop O'Dowd dominated the first-team selections, grabbing 12 first-team spots, along with a Defensive Player of the Year award for senior Jevon Holland, who is headed to Oregon next year. San Leandro's explosive senior, Jermaine Jackson, was named the Foothill's Offensive Player of the Year.
A standout on both sides of the ball and in the return game, Holland actually grabbed three spots on the first-team, as a receiver, defensive back, and return specialist. Defensively, the lockdown cornerback was rarely tested, but when he was, he came up with five interceptions and four pass break-ups. Offensively, he snagged 32 balls for 927 yards and 11 touchdowns, averaging 29 yards per catch. Holland also returned a whopping five punts for touchdowns.
Jackson was an equal threat running the ball and going out of the backfield as a receiver, not to mention his skills in the return game. He returned four punts and two kickoffs for touchdowns, including one in the NCS semifinals, and for good measure took one of his two interceptions to the house. Strictly speaking about his offensive prowess, Jackson accumulated nearly 1,400 yards from scrimmage through the first 12 games of the year, averaging over eight yards per carry and nearly 20 yards per catch. He finished the year with 22 touchdowns from scrimmage, giving him 29 total touchdowns on the season.
