For the third consecutive year in the CCS Division II playoffs, the St. Francis football team found itself faced with an opponent from the BVAL-West Valley Division and for the third consecutive year, the Lancers had no difficulty advancing to the semifinals.
Lutoviko Ahoia got St. Francis off to a fast start with two first-quarter touchdowns and the Lancers rolled to a 55-6 win over visiting Mt. Pleasant Friday night. St. Francis (7-4) will take on Leland, a 31-20 winner over Westmont. Mt. Pleasant concluded its season with a 9-2 mark.
Fullback Dennis Green added two first-half touchdowns as St. Francis exploded for a 41-0 lead at the break. Ahoia finished with 70 yards rushing and Tre'Sean Bishop rushed for a game-high 120 yards and a score. The Cardinals avoided the shutout on a 1-yard run by quarterback George Landeros in the third quarter.
Mt. Pleasant finished second in the BVAL-WV this season. Last year, St. Francis hammered BVAL-WV league champion Andrew Hill, 41-6 and in 2012, the Lancers defeated BVAL-WV champ Overfelt, 42-0, in the first round.
