Senior quarterback Brett Foley threw a pair of touchdown passes and ran for a score and Trevor Lewis added two rushing touchdowns and a TD reception as Archbishop Mitty defeated Willow Glen, 49-15, in the first round of the CCS Division II playoffs Friday night at Foothill College.
The Monarchs broke open a close game with a pair of touchdowns late in the second quarter. Running back Derek Bauerle extended Mitty’s lead to 21-7 with a 3-yard run with two minutes left in the first half and then on the next drive, Matthew Marani intercepted a pass and returned it 35 yards for a score to make it 28-7.
Earlier, Foley got the Monarchs on the board with a 15-yard run and a 50-yard touchdown pass to Dakari Monroe. Isaiah Sires-Wils cut the lead to 14-7 with a 10-yard run prior to Mitty’s late-half burst.
Sires-Wils also scored on an 85-yard run for the Rams, who finished the season 5-6. Mitty (7-4) advances to the CCS Division II semifinals, where they will take on Wilcox (7-4), a 28-13 winner over Christopher.
