Visiting Saratoga was not about to back down against rival Los Gatos, but in the end it was too much Sabrina Belquist and Ashley Poshard as the Wildcats pulled away late to down the Falcons, 46-34.
Saratoga tied the game at 31 early in the fourth quarter, but Los Gatos (14-6, 5-3) finished things with a flurry, outscoring the Falcons 15-3 over the final seven minutes to emerge with the victory and remain two games behind Palo Alto and Lynbrook in the SCVAL-De Anza standings. Belquist finished with 15 points, drilling a trio of three-pointers, while the junior Poshard added 13 points.
Los Gatos will face Wilcox on the road this coming Tuesday, while Saratoga (12-8, 3-5) has the difficult task of bouncing back at home against Palo Alto.
