Freshman Aminah Hilliard found junior Cyrene Paez for the game-winning goal in the second half on Thursday evening, lifting American Canyon past Armijo-Fairfield, 1-0, in non-league girls soccer action.
Hilliard, who created opportunities for herself earlier in the match and got off a few shots, helped make a strong effort in goal from senior Greta Fast stand up for the victory, with her pass to Paez. Fast was able to record three saves on the five shots on goal recorded by the Royals.
Paez's finish gives her three goals for the season, following a brace in the Wolves' victory over Bethel last week.
The shutout was the fourth clean sheet so far this year for Fast. American Canyon improved to 4-4-2 with the win. Armijo dropped to 1-4-1.
